Safeguarding Policy

At StudyAce Academy, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every student is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment where students can develop academically with confidence.

This Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to protecting children and young people who engage with our online tutoring services.

1. Our Commitment

StudyAce Academy believes that every child has the right to learn in a safe environment, free from harm, abuse, neglect, discrimination and exploitation.

We are committed to:

  • Promoting the welfare of every student.

  • Providing a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Maintaining high professional standards.

  • Encouraging respectful relationships between tutors, students and parents.

  • Taking appropriate action where safeguarding concerns arise.

  • Complying with relevant safeguarding legislation and guidance within England.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to:

  • All StudyAce Academy tutors

  • Parents and guardians

  • Students

  • Staff and contractors

  • Anyone representing StudyAce Academy

It applies to all tutoring delivered through StudyAce Academy, including online lessons and any associated communications.

3. Safer Recruitment

StudyAce Academy aims to appoint tutors who demonstrate both academic excellence and professional integrity.

Where appropriate, our recruitment process may include:

  • Identity verification

  • Qualification checks

  • Employment history review

  • Professional references

  • Enhanced DBS checks (where required)

  • Interview and suitability assessment

Tutors are expected to maintain high standards of professionalism at all times.

4. Tutor Responsibilities

All tutors are expected to:

  • Treat every student with dignity and respect.

  • Maintain professional boundaries.

  • Deliver lessons appropriately and respectfully.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately.

  • Respect confidentiality.

  • Follow StudyAce Academy policies and procedures.

  • Avoid any behaviour that could place themselves or a student at risk.

Tutors must never engage in behaviour that could reasonably be considered inappropriate or exploitative.

5. Online Lesson Safety

To promote a safe online learning environment:

  • Lessons should take place using approved online platforms.

  • Parents or guardians should provide an appropriate learning environment for younger students.

  • Students should attend lessons using their own device where possible.

  • Tutors should conduct lessons professionally and be appropriately dressed.

  • Lessons should focus solely on educational purposes.

  • Communication should remain professional at all times.

StudyAce Academy reserves the right to end any lesson where inappropriate behaviour is observed.

6. Communication

Communication between tutors and students should remain professional and relate only to educational matters.

Where appropriate:

  • Parents or guardians should remain the primary point of contact.

  • Personal social media contact between tutors and students is not permitted.

  • Tutors should not request or share personal contact details unless authorised through StudyAce Academy.

7. Parent and Guardian Responsibilities

Parents and guardians play an important role in safeguarding.

We encourage parents to:

  • Ensure students attend lessons from an appropriate environment.

  • Supervise younger children where appropriate.

  • Inform us of any safeguarding concerns affecting their child.

  • Keep emergency contact details up to date.

  • Encourage respectful behaviour throughout lessons.

8. Student Responsibilities

Students are expected to:

  • Behave respectfully.

  • Follow tutor instructions.

  • Treat tutors with courtesy.

  • Use appropriate language.

  • Participate in lessons in a safe and responsible manner.

Bullying, abusive behaviour or discrimination will not be tolerated.

9. Recognising Safeguarding Concerns

Safeguarding concerns may include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical abuse

  • Emotional abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Neglect

  • Online exploitation

  • Grooming

  • Bullying or cyberbullying

  • Radicalisation

  • Domestic abuse

  • Self-harm concerns

Any concern will be treated seriously and handled appropriately.

10. Reporting Concerns

Any safeguarding concern identified by a tutor, parent, student or member of staff should be reported to StudyAce Academy without delay.

Where there is reason to believe a child may be at immediate risk of significant harm, the appropriate emergency services or safeguarding authorities should be contacted immediately.

StudyAce Academy will cooperate with relevant authorities where required by law.

11. Confidentiality

Information relating to safeguarding concerns will be handled sensitively and confidentially.

However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where there is a legal or safeguarding obligation to share information in order to protect a child or vulnerable person.

12. Equality and Inclusion

StudyAce Academy is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment.

Every student will be treated fairly and with respect regardless of:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender

  • Race

  • Religion or belief

  • Sexual orientation

  • Ethnic background

  • Socio-economic background

Discrimination, harassment or victimisation will not be tolerated.

13. Policy Review

This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure it reflects current legislation, best practice and the needs of StudyAce Academy.

Updates will be published on this page together with the revised effective date.
